A little catch up

I have been bad lately. I blame school and work!
So many things have been going on and have not been blogged. The boys are getting so much bigger and wiser. It is scary to me how big they have gotten. Love those little monsters.
We have had 2 birthdays that need to be put down, those are important! The school year is almost over, and Mak will have finished his first year of kindergarten. I will hopefully be the proud owner of an associates degree in general education, and the boys will be starting baseball. This year Mak moves to machine-T and Carson starts T-ball. Hopefully Carson will last longer in baseball than he did in soccer (2 weeks).

I RUN 2014

I have been running a lot of races this year, and I have failed to blog them after I ran them. So here is my post of RUNS! One of the runs I did was called the Dirty Dash. This was one of the most fun races I have ever ran. It was up in the mountains, running through mud puddles and climbing obstacles. I didn't get any pictures of the obstacles, but they were so fun. Blow up slides, huge mud puddles with mountains of mud to climb over, and so much more. At one point they had a slide set up on a huge hill that went for hundreds of feet. I ran it with my friend Mindy, and we got so muddy. Pictures will prove! Definitely one I will be running again.

We didn't get any before pictures, but these are so much better!!

My legs...

I had so much dirt caked on me. This was the only picture I could take that would show that.

Love this picture.
Here is another one. The Hit and Run race. Have you ever seen the tv show on ABC called Wipeout? Well this run is like that. They had basically the same obstacles, but it was a 5k mixed in. So much fun. The only thing that truly sucked was the time we ran it. We were supposed to start at 1130, but didn't actually end up starting until 1230. It was hot!! Not to mention the obstacles took so much out of you, we weren't really running a lot. Anyways, take a look.

This picture is a little blurry because my phone was in a plastic bag. Mindy, Rachel and I had so much fun!

This was the last obstacle, and i failed this one. There is a red blow up bridge sitting in water and you have to run across it without getting hit by the red balls that circle around. I didn't get hit by a ball, but I fell off the bridge! HAHA. The water was so dirty...

I had another fun run called the Color Me RAD. It was a 5k, and they had color stations that they would throw colored corn starch. 5 different stations and 5 different colors. They had a stage set up with music playing for us to dance and do Zumba. The DJ on the stage had fire extinguishers filled with color that he sprayed on the crowd. It was just a huge party!

The last race I participated in is the one I am most proud of. It was my half marathon, 13.1 miles!! HOLY COW! It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but so worth it! Moab is so beautiful. We ran down a canyon that followed the Colorado River. SO PRETTY!!

6am on the bus ride to the starting line. READY OR NOT!

The after bus ride with our medals!

On the drive home we saw these cars that were made to look like Lightening McQueen and Sally from the movie cars. They are a little beat up but the boys loved them!! After we took our pictures I ended up taking the wrong turn and we added 2 1/2 hours to our 4 hour drive. So our trip ended up taking us 6 1/2 hours!! It was a long drive and was so hard on our already sore bodies!

Batting

I found this video of Mak batting. Thought I would share it!!

Planters

One more project down!! I am so excited cause these turned out really cute. Plus they make my bench not look so lonely. I will not lie, these things were a pain in the BUTT! We searched on-line for plans and couldn't find anything, instead we found a site that you could buy the same planters for $150.00, and they were vinyl! I wasn't going to pay 150 per planter for a piece of vinyl that the Utah wind would destroy. BIG waste of money. We decided to make some. Like I said these were not very easy. The hardest part was the angle. Had we made them straight they would have been much easier. We liked the the look of the angle though, so chose that path. With the wood we bought and the nails and screws this project ended up being about $40.00 for both planters! AND THEY ARE WOOD!! These puppies stand about 3ft tall and about 1 1/2 ft wide at the top. HUGE!!!

These were a screen shot of the vinyl ones I found that inspired our minds.

 before we stained them.

 black and coated.

The flowers I added in them. Right now they are little, but hopefully they will grow bigger before I end up killing them. :)

My next project I am thinking about is painting the mailbox, and fixing the house numbers. I haven't decided what colors or anything like that. It needs to be updated. That might be more of a winter project though.

Bear Lake

This year for Memorial Day weekend my parents took the boys up to Bear Lake with them because I had to work. They promised the boys they could go to the lake, but on Saturday it was cold and rainy. They took them anyways. She sent me these pictures, and they turned out really cute!

LOVE THESE CUTE BOYS OF MINE!!

HiPPiE rUn 2014

This year I have signed up for a lot of races, and they are all sounding so fun. Last night was the first one of the year. The Hippie/Glow run. It was a night time 5k. I had a blast doing it, and so did the girls that did it with me. They had music and dancing after the run, and a mascot (Lion) wandering around and running the course with us.

Mindy and I are running every race together. She is my running buddy, and I have noticed that I can't run without her. I suck when I don't run with her!! We made Tutu's for this run, and we are going to wear them every run this year.

Mindy, Shauna, and me

Mindy, Shauna, me, and Rachel

Mindy had this number assigned to her, but she is very superstitious. I traded numbers with her so she didn't have to run with it. Nothing bad happened!! Silly girl
