2013 ZOMBIE RUN!!!

My friend Mindy and I have tried to run together for motivation and something to do together. We decided to run some races, and one of them we chose was the Provo Canyon Escape. It was a ZOMBIE run. It started up Provo canyon and you run "down" to the finish. Well, it was not all 'DOWN" like they said. We were on a paved trail that went up, down and all around!
Here's how it worked, at the beginning when you signed in they gave you a yellow flag (symbolizing your "BRAINS") and a clip. You had to clip the flag to your person somewhere visible. Then they bused you to the top. We received a 5 minute head start in front of the ZOMBIES...not enough!! They had what were called stumbling ZOMBIES. These were just ZOMBIES that were on the trail in certain spots to scare or throw you off. They could not however take your "BRAINS", only the running ZOMBIES could do that.
The race started and we hadn't seen where the ZOMBIES were even at. We ran up the trail a little ways and there was a guy dressed in army gear with a fake machine gun yelling "HURRY UP< PICK IT UP< THEY'RE COMING!" the whole time shooting at these freaky looking ZOMBIES.
We did pretty well, Mindy lost her "BRAINS" about 3/4 the way through the race. Probably the last mile I found one extra "BRAIN" laying on the ground, so I picked it up. You never know when an extra "BRAIN" would come in handy! Turns out it did. We turned a corner and there was a ZOMBIE in the middle of the trail waiting...He zeroed in on my flag and started for me...I traded the "BRAIN" in my hand for the one clipped to my waist! HAHA, he took it, and it looked like I was going to be a survivor of the Race...
Last 200 yards was up hill with 2 ZOMBIES. I didn't know whether they were stumbling ZOMBIES or not, but he saw my flag and started for me. I had to SPRINT the last 200 yards uphill to keep my "BRAINS". I am happy to report that I SURVIVED!!
We both had so much fun during this race, we will be making a reappearance in 2014! Here are the pictures I was able to take, there aren't a lot because I was running.

These were signs that they had posted all over. Rules...They were pretty funny!

The starting line. It was really pretty here in October, and actually there was a ton of people here taking family photos. Couple of the little kids got a little scared when they saw the ZOMBIES. They had a make-up artist come in and do their make-up so they all looked really freaky and cool. Somebody probably got a ZOMBIE photo bomb!

Mindy and myself. <3 her!!

A sign at the starting line, It says INFECTED AREA BEYOND THIS POINT

I'm so upset that this picture didn't turn out! she looked really cool. Had bones sticking out her arm and blood everywhere! You can kinda see her. They boys love this picture. They are obsessed with ZOMBIES lately!

This is the only picture I have of my SURVIVOR shirt. It is so funny, when I wear this Carson gets so excited and wants to look at my ZOMBIE shirt all the time!! The bottom of it says I CAME. I RAN. I SURVIVED!

Mak Turned 5!!!

I hate having to catch up blogging, but I have been horrible at this...BIG surprise, I know. Mak turned 5 this past November. He got a lot of fun things. I think next time I will reconsider giving legos. It really sucks having to put them all together. He only got a fire truck and a police car, but those things are very complex! Whoever came up with these are rolling in the money right now. Anyways, here are some pictures of the occasion.
Here is the Cake I made for him. He wanted a Lego cake...this is what he got. It's not great but i thought it turned out good. He enjoyed it. That's all that counts right?!!

New family pictures!

Back in June I had some family pictures taken of the boys and me. I wanted some pictures to put on my walls that were new and had no old memory tied to them. Most of them turned out pretty well. I'm still in the process of sizing my walls and seeing what size to make all the pictures. Here are some of the ones I like!

A NEW START

Things have been a little crazy around my house lately, and I have neglected to do anything about this thing. I had to do some reconstruction of my blog. Since I am now divorced...well almost, I had to make some changes. That seems to be the way things have been going lately. This year has proven to be a difficult one already, of course I knew that clear back when it started.

Let me just start out by saying my past is my past. I would never change my mistakes because they have made me who I am today. That being said I am over my past and I am moving on. I have realized many things in the past 7 months that I should have realized 5 years ago. Things change, and people change. I am now moving forward and looking towards a different future. My kids are my world and they always will be. From now on life around me will be different than I expected, but as long as I have my boys things will be just fine!

Summer has been fun and busy. I have been in the process of moving and fixing the house to make it a little more livable. For one thing it didn't have a place for a washer and dryer! That is something you need...but more on that in another post. We have been keeping busy with the water park, zoo, vacations and preparations for school. The last one we don't like to mention in our house. It's a sore subject.

Mak is trying to adjust to his new life and house. At first he hated the house, but now he is loving the grass and ways he can play. He will be starting his last year in preschool (sore subject). The part he doesn't know is that he won't be riding the bus, and it's 4 days now instead of 2. I will tell him later! He has learned to push buttons and be a friend to his little brother. As for the divorce, I don't know if he understands fully, but he will eventually. Love this kid and his new found personality!

Carson is the same as always. He is a little sweetheart and loves to bring me flowers! They are morning glory, but it's the thought that counts! I don't know where he learned to be so nice to his momma but I'm lovin it! He will start his preschool this year and he is so excited! He puts on a backpack and gives me a hug and kiss and tells me he is off to the bus. He will then proceed out the door and come back a few minutes later proclaiming he is home and asked if I missed him!

This is my way of starting new. I love my kids and everything they have brought into my life! Now if I can keep up with the blogging that would be most impressive! Until next time...

Halloween 2012!

This year Mak asked for weeks when we were going trick-or-treating. He was so cute, actually they both were! I love the way they both said "Trick-or-Treat" at the doors. Ryan was able to walk around with the boys, Anna and I this year. We had lots of fun! They wouldn't hold still for too long so these are the pictures we could get!

Here we are carving our pumpkins. This year we didn't have time until Halloween day.

The boys helping for just a few minutes! P.S.-Carson has a knife in his hand.

Daniel and Kendra doing theirs.

My boys went as SWAT!!

Anna went as Pocohantas!

Miss Nhala came by while we were all out Trick-or-Treating.

Photography

This semester I have been taking a photography class, and I love it. I have learned so much. I thought I would share some of the photos I have taken.

The first 4 dealt with Different points of view for an object:

The next 4 deal with figure to ground relationships:

The next ones we were asked to pick a place and take pictures of that place. I chose the cemetary:

These last ones we were asked to pick an object...I chose a pencil, which was really hard!:
